Katrin's Newsletter #31: "How do we work together?"
This brief missive is a way for me to make connections with people interested in art and creativity (sign up here). I'm an author and editor, always on the lookout for inspiration.Â
To develop the best humanity,Â
the best spirit, the best
community, there needs to be
discipline; practices of exploring.
How do you do that?
How do we work together?
How do we talk together in ways
that will open up our best
capacities and our best gifts?
~ Vincent Harding
Do you need a good laugh?
Are you finding it hard to concentrate? I certainly am.
To the rescue: the Netflix series Call My Agent. It has subtitles, so you have to pay attention, and you also get to hear mellifluous French. It's heaven.
It stars various unknown French actors who are hilarious and charming, and various famous actors in cameos who are also hilarious and charming (Isabelle Huppert, anyone? She makes fun of her incredible productivity). It's about a Paris-based film agency and the shenanigans employees and clients get up to.
I found this show so comforting. It didn't hurt that it's set in Paris, where I'll be headed the second this damn pandemic is over.
"Char
acters you come to care about and understand, a swath of history that defined several generations in ways they never expected, the conflicting pull between totalitarianism and freedom and how humankind finds the spirit to flourish in either system, and finally men and women coming to make their peace with the sum totals of their lives. A very interesting, compelling, and well-crafted take that reinforces our belief in the power of people to make their way despite the odds and obstacles placed in their lives."
